After the rain, cabin fever and beautiful seeds

During the heavy rain the water in every stream and river in Kauai stains red with the iron rich dirt and eventually spills into the ocean. If you look along the horizon, particularly on the left side, you can see a slim brown smear in the ocean. This is the earth blood of Kauai spilling into Hanalei bay and flowing out to the ocean. It is quite creepy..the waves are actually reddish brown and the foam on the waves are brownish red...almost looks like one of the plagues from the bible. Posted by Hello

After the rain stopped a herd of clouds plopped down on top of the mountain range obscuring them from sight even on a bright sunny day. Posted by Hello

Finally the sky has cleared...these mountains were streaked white with numerous waterfalls 2 days ago. Posted by Hello

Lets get out of the house!!!! Posted by Hello

This is a stream the flows into Hanalei bay (20 feet behind me when I took this picture). Shayne has dubbed this 'Coconut beach' because the first time we came here we found coconuts that we cut open with lava rocks and ate the sweet white meat inside. After the heavy rain the stream was flowing very well and the kids had a blast splashing about. Posted by Hello

Found these beautiful seeds from a guanacaste tree (Enterolobium cyclocarpum) on the beach. They washed down from the stream and are on the shore of the beach. They are beautiful with the dark woody 'hamburger patty" sandwiched between the lighter seed coat. I am collecting these to make something...not sure what but it is impossible to walk by these on the beach and leave them on the sand. Posted by Hello
