The lifeguards decided it was not a good day for the beach. Even in Paradise you get a day off.

looks serene but those are really nasty waves coming to shore. (Lumaha'i beach).

An attempt at a family picture...too many independent variables all having the potential to look goofy. The boys are still in their pjs, I took them out first thing in the morning looking for the 'big surf'.

Big surf at Hanalei Bay...waves pushed in at 12'.. As each wave disentigrated into white foam we were reminded of the scene from Lord of the Rings when the river became a galloping herd of white horses to wash away the Nazghul.

well if there is no swimming....you can always go running on the beach.
