Beach party bingo

Today is Shayne's Birthday party. She has decided to have the party at this beach as a boogie board, squirt gun, water balloon, cook out party. The weather has been terrible all week but today it looks like the rain has broken. I hope her charm persists to this afternoon. This picture is one we took over a week ago, but it hopefully today will be as nice.

When I look at this photo I am struck by how big Ian looks. The kid is growing rapidly. He is also mastering the boogie board. This is one of the great joys of beng here, loading the kids up into the car (ignoring their objections) and going to the beach in the afternoon to kill an hour or two. In our past, in the mainland, this time would probably be eaten up by Disney Channel shows or bickering in the house. It will be a difficult transition to return to KY.

Sunset at Hanalei bay with Etel and the kids playing blind circle tag. It is a lesson I need to learn almost every day, children are at their best behavior when they have 100% of your attention. When ever I find myself snapping at Ian, it is almost always due to him being ignored. An ignored Ian is a dangerous Ian.
